An Eventful Year for Women in Financial Services
The role of women in financial services leadership was growing in 2020 and continued in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Citigroup hired Jane Fraser as its first female CEO in February 2020, which made her the first woman CEO of any major global bank. This milestone is indicative of a wider cultural shift at international banks. Progress also happened in the #VentureCapital world. While in 2010, just 12.6% of all venture investments in the US went to startups with at least one female founder according to the market intelligence service #Pitchbook. By 2019, that figure had climbed to 23.8%. Over that same span, the annual number of exits for companies with female founders experienced a fivefold increase. For #women in the #VC industry, it has undeniably been a decade of progress. While disparity still may exist the #femalefounding gap is at least narrowing
